UI Designer

We are currently seeking a UI Designer to join our team. We are passionate about advocating for user needs and delivering innovative and accessible products that redefine our customers day-to-day financial activities.

The Design team at Capital One is at the forefront of enriching our customers' digital and physical experiences. We champion a thriving environment of collaboration, authenticity and healthy critique, in which we honor diversity of thought, create a culture of belonging, and elevate one another. If you're an innovator and storyteller who embraces an environment where you can experiment, learn, and change banking for good, we would love to hear from you.

The Platform Design Team

We're a team of passionate human-centered designers who aren't afraid of data and technology. We work on connecting things behind the scenes to make ideal associate experiences possible, by modeling how Capital One's dynamic platforms, data, and touch-points work in concert.

We're part of the Data Experience Design team, who are making real-time, intelligent, frictionless associate experiences possible by connecting new technology, a humanistic outlook, and an operating model that can all work together within a culture that's down to learn and explore. We're doing this by designing the integrated ecosystem that our associates live and breathe every day.

What You'll Do:

You'll be asked to handle a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Connecting with design community peers by learning, sharing, and teaching
  • Autonomously work with partners and teams across various geographies
  • Embracing and advocating for an experience mindset - this is as important to the work as the results
  • A strong understanding of, or experience with, Data Visualization

Discovery & Delivery
  • Supporting early product definition by working with partners to facilitate discovery sessions that uncover customer pain points and opportunities
  • Demonstrating expertise with design tools to deliver concepts and enable successful collaboration across teams
  • Applying and contributing to the design system, style guides, iconography, and infographics that can be leveraged by teams
  • Participating in end-to-end product design by:
    • Working with researchers to understand customer needs and interpreting information into visual forms that are impactful and intuitive
    • Framing problems, determining insights, and defining visual designs to serve customer needs
    • Contribute to and grow to proactively lead or drive project work as opportunities arise
    • Ideating, creating, and delivering low to high fidelity prototypes
    • Designing within existing - and creating new - standards to contribute to our internal design system, best practices, and guidelines
    • Storytelling and presenting concepts to stakeholders across a number of teams
    • Creating high fidelity design assets for acceptance, development, and delivery to market in partnership with technology colleagues

Basic Qualifications
