Summary

You will serve as an Engineer/Computer Scientist performing data science integration for applied and advanced research and development missions in direct support of Senior Leadership, responsible for technical, scientific and engineering advice on efforts of military, civilian, and contractor personnel to achieve program objectives that encompass a wide variety of efforts. This position is located in Fort Washington, MD in the NAVAL INTELLIGENCE ACTIVITY.

Responsibilities

  • You will use the full spectrum of data science tools and resources in developing, formulating, advising and directing sensitive and critical operational concepts and strategies for broad spectrum programs, projects, and initiatives
  • You will analyze supported organizations missions and operations to determine current and future impacts, administrative operations and adjusts operations to meet changing conditions and situations.
  • You will research, apply, and implement advanced algorithms including artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, geospatial analytics, and visual analytics in programming languages such as Python.
  • You will create and leverage structured and unstructured data using unclassified or classified sources such as web services, application-program interfaces (APIs), databases, including formats such as XML or JSON as-needed.

  • This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period requirement.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position has been designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position in specialty area [42] and incumbents of the position are required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2.


Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-13 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties such as: 1) Advising management on technical, scientific and/or computer engineering efforts, concepts and options for unique research and development systems; 2) Developing, analyzing, and/or directing computer programming required to develop or integrate software applications supporting data visualizations, data management, and data requirements of proposals and applications; 3) Researching, applying, or developing computational algorithms to explore data structures to assisting management in reviewing proposals and resolving technical and computer engineering related issues and procedures; 4) Directing development activities in a DEVSECOPS cloud environment.
