Summary

This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19. Appointments under this excepted service authority are temporary, not to exceed one year, and may be extended an additional year.

About the Position: This position is with Headquarters, US Army Corps of Engineers (HQ USACE), Directorate of Human Resources, Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an adviser; works with the staff in the review of workers compensation claims, reemployment of those recovered from injuries, and to develop preventative measures to avoid or reduce the number of future injuries.
  • Analyzes work related injury or illness cases and reports statistical data annually, i.e., budget impact, lost wages, etc., and develops policy guidelines.
  • Prepares responses to inquiries from unions, members of Congress, federal agencies, and employees concerning regulatory, and policy applications to obtain, and provide desired information.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. This requires that a personnel security investigation be adjudicated on a pre-appointment basis which may take up to 90 days or longer to process.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Administers the disability programs which provide wage replacement benefits, medical treatment, vocational rehabilitation and other compensation to civilians for work-related injury or illness.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
