Summary

The incumbent of this position serves as a Financial Analyst in the Office of Financial Research (OFR), Department of the Treasury, reporting to the assigned Associate Director in the OFR's Research and Analysis- Office of the Deputy Director.

Responsibilities

As a Financial Analyst, you will:
- Manage and conduct highly complex analysis and technically demanding duties in support of OFR missions. The work consists of independently planning and executing projects related to OFR responsibilities for data collection, analysis and research of specific financial sectors and their role in U.S. financial markets and the financial system as a whole.
- Assist the Director, the Deputy Director of the Research and Analysis Center, and the supervisory analyst by performing assigned duties, exercising the authorities, and fulfilling the responsibilities of the OFR under the Act.
- Plan, formulate, conduct, evaluate, and carry out a wide range of financial and technical research and analysis relating to assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Establish and maintain, with others, data and information systems, including information sharing arrangements with State, Federal, and foreign regulatory authorities; obtain data and information jointly with such authorities; obtain information from public sources; independently collect information and data, when necessary and in accordance with the Act.
- Interact and consult with peers in regulatory, industry, and academic communities. Incumbent also is expected to make use of such contacts in furthering their professional development.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the OR-53 (GS-13) level, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the OR-52 (GS-12) level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Experience monitoring or analyzing (i) financial stability issues or (ii) risks in the financial system; AND
- Experience analyzing economic or financial data and creating graphical evidence to illustrate the analysis; AND
- Experience documenting analysis in written reports or presentations.

Education

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology.

Experience
Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience such as performing financial analysis and evaluation work requiring a comprehensive knowledge of (1) corporate finance and any specialized fields of finance required such as public finance, securities, international finance, money and securities markets, investments, and banking, and (2) the financial and management structure, operations, and practices of corporate and other organizations.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.

There will be a two-phased rating process.

Ranking Factor 3. Ability to clearly explain financial or economic analysis in written reports or presentations.
