Responsibilities

Joining Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) means being part of the team focused on securing the Nation's physical and cyber infrastructure and the public safety communities against threats to public health and safety, economy, and national security. Within CISA, the Stakeholder Engagement Division (SED) develops and curates partnerships to broaden CISA's influence, position the Agency as a thought-leader across the cybersecurity and infrastructure security mission space, and improve coordination and integration of stakeholder relationships. The Stakeholder Engagement Division (SED) develops and curates partnerships to broaden CISA's influence, position the Agency as a thought-leader across the cybersecurity and infrastructure security mission space, and improve coordination and integration of stakeholder relationships. SED manages CISA's customer relationship management platform, collects strategic stakeholder feedback and requirements, fosters collaboration and a culture of shared ownership of these relationships, and aligns and manages priorities and performance for stakeholder engagement efforts across the Agency. In this position, you will serve as an IT Specialist (Information Security). In this capacity, you will:

-Install and maintain server configurations (hardware and software) to ensure their confidentiality, integrity, and availability;

-Provide technical advice regarding the development, improvement, and effectiveness of a knowledge management system;

- Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerability, risks and protection needs of activities, and integrate security programs across disciplines in order to focus security efforts;

-Develop and administer databases and/or data management systems that allow for the storage, query, and statistical analysis of data;

-Review proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks;

Travel Required

50% or less - May be required to travel both domestically and abroad up to 6 to 10 nights per month.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level (starting salary $87,198.00) if you possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:

(1) Attention to Detail- Compiling information to prepare source data for computer entry.
(2) Customer Service - Evaluating IT security plans and strategies;
(3) Oral Communication- Clearly communicating goals and expectation for IT projects/program activities;
(4) Problem Solving- Developing strategies that provide for the effective management of information systems.

In addition to the above requirement you must have at least one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, with experience in performing the following duties:

1) providing technical advice regarding the development, improvement, and effectiveness of a knowledge management system;
2) developing and administering databases and/or data management systems that allow for the storage, query, and statistical analysis of data; 3) reviewing proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks; and
4) conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of information systems.

You must clearly show in your resume how you have this particular experience, including with database development and systems security, or you will be rated ineligible.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
