Employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer I (Entry Level) to join the Integration and Test Harness team. This position will be located in Dulles, VA.The selected candidate will perform a variety of operations and procedures related to the manufacturing of cable/harness products. The ideal candidate is expected to:Provides regular communication with work center management, engineers, and harness leads on the status of technical issues.Demonstrate general technical knowledge in manufacturing. This includes interpreting complex engineering drawings, schematics, wire list, and diagrams.Ability to pick up new task and learn quickly including turning complex technical documentation into detailed instructions.Ability to work with a diverse team, take/build off of constructive feedback, and understudy with an assigned mentor.Has a proactive attitude that does not need to be micromanaged, and can take direction.Ability to work inside a clean room environment around delicate flight hardware, including hazardous operations, tight spaces, in a safe and effective manner.Ensures work is done with completeness, accuracy, and adherence to ISO procedures/company technical standards, in a fast paced environment on a tight schedule.Ability to have a flexible work schedule with the occasional 3+ week launch campaign trip. Request to work weekend are common to support the dynamic schedules of I&T.Basic Qualification:Received an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university majoring in science, technology, engineering, or STEM related degree.Minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higherEligible to obtain a US Government Top Secret security clearance (US Citizenship is a pre-requisite)Experience with hardware integration (for example: Cable and Harness) and capable on reading drawings, schematics and a wire list.Experience with Engineering software used for modeling and managing drawings (AutoCAD, Creoview, Windchill, Excel, Matlab)Proficient in Microsoft Suite SoftwareExcellent leadership and communication skillsPreferred Qualification:Prior internship or research experience in related fieldMinimum overall GPA of 3.50Relevant coursework in AerospaceAptitude for understanding system and subsystem interactionNorthrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
