Enlighten, an Alion company is looking for an experienced Data Engineer/Manager to support the acquisition of mission critical and mission support data sets from the Department of Defense as well as Federal agencies and commercial sources. The preferred candidate will have a background in supporting complex efforts for acquisition, technical connection, and data normalization. The ideal candidate will have worked with big data systems, complex structured and unstructured data sets, and have supported government data acquisition, analysis, and/or sharing efforts in the past. To excel in the position, the candidate shall have a strong attention to detail, be able to understand technical complexities, the political nature of the data sharing discussions (PII, Classification, etc.), and the willingness to learn and adapt to the situation. The candidate will be relied upon for sound advice in completing MOUs, MOAs, engineering request forms, and other government data sharing information. Candidate will maintain authoritative documentation of acquired data sets (delivery path, interfaces, specs, etc.). The candidate will regularly work independently and as part of a large team to accomplish the client's objectives and will need to regularly brief senior leadership on progress related to the objectives. A background in people-centric data sets is a plus but not essential.A' Prior experience with data engineering, developing and configuring data parsers, monitoring data feeds and/or managing data flow with Apache NiFi is beneficial, but not required. Security Clearance: A current TS/SCI government security clearance is required and therefore all candidates must be a US Citizen.A' (TS with SCI eligibility acceptable) Required Skills: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline.A' Educational requirements may be adjusted for applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience. 5+ years' professional experience in data management, minimum of 3 years in a government, military, or contractor role Strong critical thinking skills Ability to work independently, anticipate next steps, and identify courses of action to resolve issues Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner to diverse audiences Ability to travel to customer and data-owner sites as needed (National Capital Region) Proficient understanding and usage of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and VisioDesired Skills: Demonstrated prior experience leading a workstream highly desired Software development background and demonstrated experience in writing data collection and transportation tools in support of big data efforts CJSecurity Clearance: None
