A local Northern, VA Community and Human Services Division has a contract opportunity for a Social Worker with solid experience working with foster care cases. This individual will provide intensive, specialized, culturally competent services to children and families with complex psychosocial diagnoses and histories of abuse/neglect, to ensure the safety and well-being of children in foster care while working toward permanency within State/Federal time lines. Must be willing to be trained on the finance software in order to help other social workers set up purchase orders and invoices for vendors. This is a Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm position with occasional evening and weekend hours required.

  • Provides case management services for children/youth in foster care at compliance levels standards for Foster Care cases set by the local, state, and federal governments.
  • Conducts monthly face to face or video visits with each child/youth in foster care assigned
  • Documents and inputs all required information: monthly worker visits, Structured Decision-Making tools, and mandated screens into OASIS.
  • Secures identified and needed service funding related to each foster care case on their caseload by completing a CANS, Utilization Review, VEMAT, Certificate of Need, and a Harmony Service Plan within the required time frames.
  • Prepares and meets with Social Work Supervisor regularly to address the case direction, services, and needs on each foster care case at least monthly.
  • Completes Medicaid and IV-E redeterminations for each foster care child/youth on their caseload.

Job Requirements

  • MSW Required
  • 2-4 years of social work experience including recent foster care experience
  • Solid interviewing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with using Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Professional and empathetic demeanor
