Position Overview:

The SF Counterparty Financial Risk Sr. Director will be responsible the consolidated financial oversight of all Single-Family seller servicers. The position will serve as a critical member of the SF Third Party governance forum. The role will work closely with other leadership areas within 2nd line and other counterparty business partners.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Serve as main point of contact with FHFA regarding matters pertaining to financial counterparty risk
  • Facilitate preparation and submission of regulatory required FHFA documentation
  • Ensure consistency of counterparty oversight between regulated and mortgage bank financial teams
  • Execute team structure to ensure most effective risk-based approach to counterparty financial oversight
  • Provide clear reporting and communication of financial concerns and risks facing counterparties
  • Raise issues to SF Risk Committee as necessary


**This position can be performed currently from a remote location in the U.S. but will require presence in a Freddie Mac office in the future.***

The Single-Family Third-Party Risk team is responsible for managing and overseeing all of the risks associated with various Third Parties we engage with while supporting Freddie Mac's primary mission. The Third Parties include Seller Servicers, Mortgage Insurers, Reinsurers, Document Custodians, Suppliers and more. Our team works with business partners across the enterprise to ensure we can identify, quantify, mitigate and communicate the risk associated with our Third Parties. The Third-Party team ensures there is single point accountability to manage all risk types and communicate effectively across the organization.

Your Impact:

You will be responsible for the following functions as a key member of the SF Third Party Counterparty team:

Financial Risk Oversight

The Sr. Director will oversee the teams responsible for monitoring regulated institutions, mortgage banks and counterparty compliance and eligibility. The Sr. Director will look for ways to bring efficiency and consistency to seller servicer oversight and reporting.

Leadership for 3rd party risk

The role will require a strong understanding of the financial risk of our seller servicers. The Sr. Director will play a critical role in the Single-Family Third-Party Risk governance forum to ensure understanding of the ultimate financial loss facing our counterparties.

Seller Servicer Lifecycle management

The team will be responsible for all phases of the seller servicer, from application, to financial risk assessment, to ongoing monitoring to termination. The team will serve as the business leads for the data application platform and several other data platforms to ensure accurate risk assessment.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, Master's preferred
  • Typically has 15+years of related experience and 8+ years of management experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial or operational risk management at a large financial services institution(s)
  • Deep knowledge and subject matter expertise of the seller servicer oversight process - from application to termination
  • Understanding of counterparty financial risks and management practices at large financial services institutions
  • Strong knowledge and experience with seller servicers risk management, covering the full lifecycle of activities, including risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and expectations related to seller servicers (e.g., FHFA)
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse group of stakeholders
  • Ability to empower and inspire action through interpersonal skills
  • Proactive leadership and partnership capabilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving ability
