We are currently looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join a well established company in Dulles, VA. Excellent opportunity to be a part of a team that manufactures highly specialized computer systems designed to survive in harsh military environments. This is a full time, direct hire position with excellent benefits. Local candidates preferred. No relocation assistance. Job Description Work directly with our product development team in the design of new technology and products for our line of rugged systems and servers. Designs will involve electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies. Provide the engineering expertise required for the launch of new products as well as the support and upgrades of existing products and related systems. Responsible for specific/tasked mechanical, electro-mechanical, and thermal mechanical designs. Provide support for thermal verification testing in thermal chamber. Participate in system architecture decisions that meet requirement criteria. Represent client in the capacity of mechanical engineering in regards to vendors and customers. Create sound mechanical, thermal, and electro-mechanical designs with an emphasis on cost effectiveness and milestone completions. Support procurement, production, and technical support in the resolutions of challenges found during the purchasing, manufacture, and/or field support of materials. Participate in the revision of current product designs in order to maintain manufacturability and/or compliance with all relevant test methods and standards. Report to Senior Mechanical Engineer as well as Engineering Manager for coordination of tasking. Support Quality Assurance in any capacity required. Required Qualifications Minimum of BS in Mechanical Engineering. 2 years minimum SolidWorks experience 0-2 years experience in COTS electronics packaging and thermal design. 0-2 years experience in product development cycle (Business Development to Product Validation/Delivery). MIL-SPEC environmental and electro-mechanical interference (EMI) testing. Able to travel 10% with some international travel involved, as necessary. Possesses a current or able to obtain a SECRET security clearance. Job Requirements: Perform mechanical design and design evaluations Perform specialized mechanical engineering calculations Prepare technical specifications for mechanical engineering equipment Perform mechanical design work and documentation Prepare mechanical drawings and develop specifications Provide mechanical engineering support to other engineers Handling all aspects of mechanical design Resolve issues related to mechanical engineering Read and understand mechanical drawings Evaluate design calculations and data from mechanical engineering perspective Developing mechanical design procedures and practices Allocate fees for mechanical engineering work Prepare cost estimates of mechanical components Execute mechanical designs for assigned projects Act as a mechanical systems leader including ownership of critical mechanical components Create engineering design drawings per customer specifications Fabricate, modify and evaluate mechanical or electro-mechanical components and systems Provide mechanical design engineering for electronics packaging for avionics applications Complete all preliminary mechanical/ electrical design work Perform work related to mechanical design related work
