Job Description The Senior Network Engineer, Network Test and Certification, is responsible for the testing and certification of all new network technologies as well as network lifecycle testing and certification on hardware, firmware, and related configurations. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the testing lifecycle including test case/plan development based on business, technical and other requirements and full test environment setup including all hands on lab needs that may be required such as rack and stack of related equipment, cabling, proper power and so on via direct interface with internal facility partners. This testing role also includes compiling test results, recommendations and creating or updating required standards documentation and the handoff of this documentation to internal and outsourced operational partners who deliver and support production services daily. This role will partner directly with our outsourced partner and other internal engineers and teams that will also participate or contribute to testing requirements or directly with the testing itself, so the ability to collaborate and do so in a fully transparent and professional manner is a must with this role. This role is also part of a team that is responsible for maintaining, consolidating, and growth in a hand-on and on-site basis, lab testing environments in multiple locations. This includes related inventory, drawings, maintaining lab related toolsets and the like. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience Required: Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certification 5 years experience in information technology infrastructure leadership 8 years of experience as a Network Engineer with 5+ years in direct hands on role placing emphasis on network element lab testing, certification and documentation. Must have the ability to multitask in a high-energy environment. Knowledge of Cisco Data Center Architecture including Nexus 9K, 7K, 5K, 2K, WLC and IP Services. Experience with firewalls, network load balancers, and WAN optimizers. Strong understanding of MPLS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, LAN/WAN network design, TCP/IP, wireless networking and network problem resolution including packet capture analysis. Ability to be hands on, flexible and willing to learn new technologies and methodologies on the fly and jump into related testing based on experience and related requirements. Ability to comprehend, analyze and research problems of a complex nature, contributing to problem resolution decisions and operational recommendations. Demonstrated history of excellent communications and writing skills with the ability to facilitate the same with internal and external stakeholders. Preferred: Cisco certifications including CCDP, CCNP or similar certifications. Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others. Ability to manage the details and compliance with standards and expectations. Technical infrastructure operations, administration, engineering or test and certification and test lab work history. Experience with Network Management tools for performance, fault and capacity management, topology mapping, application dependency mapping, application performance and configuration management. Good understanding of Cisco wireless infrastructure; Cisco WLC, ACS, various model access points, multiple SSID with various access list and QoS at the wireless network. Design, test, and inspect Network systems and services. Experience with network labs, data centers and related physical facilities needs and tools for the same. Experience with test tools such as Cisco CML, Spirent, NetScout or similar. Experience with Quality of Service in various data/voice network implementations. Good understanding and working knowledge of TCP/IP, NetFlow, access-control lists, policy-based routing, performance routing (PfR), peering, and DNS. Experience with Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Confluence and ServiceNow. CORE WORK ACTIVITIES Conducts research and reviews the design / implementation of Network infrastructure components to validate or create new standards against requirements. Develop test cases and test plans and performs hands on or direct testing against the same. Make contributions to the introduction of Network solutions that enhance the operations and standards for products, services, and network elements. Create and make available test results, recommendations, and operational and support standards documentation. Participates in the evaluation and selection of Network infrastructure service elements, hardware, software, firmware and tools. Builds and maintains all aspects of lab test environments and related toolsets in support of all testing demands. Partners internally and externally on all test plans, requirements, results and documentation as well as direct testing itself. Reports status regularly on the progress of testing against requirements and related timelines. Oversees and produces configuration documentation of task level Network engineering specifications, diagrams, and configurations for handoff to partners.
