Summary The Physical Security Specialist-Locksmith supports the NCIS Physical Security Team and provides accountability of locks, keys and combinations. Responsibilities also include provisions for emergency entry and egress to and from the Russell-Knox facility and containers/areas and will include arrangements for fabricating, locating, changing and repairing locks, lock cores, keys and combinations. Responsibilities Determine the correct lock system, hardware, and door kits required to meet DoD and/or Director of Central Intelligence Directive (DCID) requirements; Install, repair (on a routine and emergency basis), rebuild, and service mechanical or electrical locking devices, using hand tools and special locksmith equipment; disassemble locks, such as padlocks, safe locks, and door locks, and repair or replace worn tumblers, springs, and other parts; insert new or repaired tumblers into locks to change combination; cut new or duplicate keys, using key cutting machine; Use lock pick set to open door locks when appropriate; Open safe locks by drilling; plan and set up master lock systems on a variety of new and existing systems, to include codes that shall be kept confidential; interact directly with customers to meet their needs; Repair, service, and adjust doors and door closers; install, service, and repair hardware and door kits (eg, sound attenuation); Service, repair, and install exit devices, panic hardware, coordinators, and other door related hardware; service, maintain, and repair of GSA-approved security containers and security container locks; Must be available to work part-time hours in addition to working On Call; Personnel assigned to the locksmith function shall: develop, and upon Government approval, implement plans, policies, procedures and training, and present training relative to locksmith activity; Other duties as assigned Qualifications Must be twenty-one years or older; High school diploma or GED; Secret security clearance (Top Secret preferred); Thorough knowledge of locksmith (safe, locks, keys, master keying systems, doors and associated hardware) and in evaluating and correcting any mechanical problem associated with security containers authorized for storage; Minimum of five (5) years locksmith experience in a classified environment; will consider less experience; Successfully completed a mechanical lock system support course of instruction presented by a DoD recognized authority (eg, Lockmasters Security Institute; MBA USA, Inc); Completed a course of instruction in GSA security equipment inspection by a DoD/GSA recognized authority; Completed a course of instruction on the X-07 through 10 offered by the DoD Lock Program or a factory-authorized course; Completed a course of instruction in the Best/Yale small format I/C (SFIC) formal keyway system (minimum knowledge of SFIC systems in an industrial/office setting); Certified as a GSA Certified Safe and Vault Technician; Certified as a GSA Locks, GSA Vaults & Containers Technician; Safe Lock and Servicing Certified; Combination Lock Manipulation Certified; LKM7000 and LKM1000 Certified Kaba Mas X-09 and X-10 Certified; S&G 2740 Certified. by Jobble
