Serves as a liaison between the Program Director of Medical Education, affiliate hospitals, medical education organizations, applicants, residents and other departments and divisions. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.Education and Experience Requirements* BA/BS required. MA/MS in healthcare, education or relevant field preferred.* Progressively responsible experience in an academic and/or healthcare setting or equivalent setting including supervision of staff.Primary Duties and Responsibilities* Manages all clerkship education matters in the Department of Medicine in conjunction with the School of Medicine/Dean's Office which pertain to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year medical students.* Participate in weekly and monthly committee meetings and conferences, such as monthly clerkship meetings, Intern Selection committee meetings, Education Steering committee meetings, program review meeting, Medicine clerkship director meetings, and CDIM Conferences.* Reviews all clerkship evaluations for students and faculty. Presents feedback to the Clerkship Director and Administrator for Medical Education.* Implements the CoursEval electronic evaluation system and acts a lead mentor and resource for other users (specifically other Clerkship Coordinators in the hospital and administrative staff at the School of Medicine).* Assists Clerkship Director in preparation of writing and editing "Chairman's letters" for all students applying to medicine residency in their 4th year (60-90 students per year). Coordinates meetings between the students and Clerkship Director to provide guidance for residency application. Provides the Clerkship Director and Program Director with valuable information regarding 4th year students status of their residency interviews, residency program selection and final career choices.* Coordinates orientation every month for 3rd and 4th year Medical students to take place the first day of their Medicine Clerkship block. Assists the Clerkship Director with running orientation, room reservation, securing speakers, and distribution of information and Clerkship assignments for all students. Assigns students (15 to 18/month) to their community ambulatory sites.* Coordinates all 3rd and 4th year Medical student lectures and Morning report sessions.* Reviews and maintains the Clerkship Program Website. Disseminates online information to students regarding schedules and rosters as well as Clerkship procedures and policies.* Ensures that all Clerkship Policies and Procedures are up to date and is responsible for disseminating this information to the students rotating in the Department of Medicine.* Maintains/updates database of community preceptors who have requested a faculty appointment. Provides paperwork as requested to the Chairman of Medicine and Credentials Coordinator as new faculty appointment requests arise.* Assist Medicine Clerkship Director by providing an Administrators view in revising, updating and/or changing of the Medicine Clerkship curriculum.* Assist Georgetown University School of Medicine in formulating a plan for pilot pre med programs, high school students summer Medicine programs and school of Medicine 4th year medical students Honor society week activities in the MGUH inpatient floors.* Trains, leads and mentors new and seasoned Clerkship Administrators in the Hospital (MGUH) and program coordinators at GU School of Medicine.* Facilitate 2nd year medical students PD (Physical Diagnosis) program during the spring Hospital inpatient sessions (MGUH).* Assist GU School of Medicine Registrars and Dean's office in gathering all 4th year Medical students' final rotation evaluation from time spend in Department of Medicine divisions as a 4 weeks or 2 weeks elective.* Supervise work-study students and volunteer personals assisting in the Department of Medicine Academic office.* Planes, oversees and coordinates student procedures and curriculum per the LCME guidelines. Reviews on-line / mobile submissions of student patient procedure logs. Coordinates a full site visit by the LCME for the Department of Medicine. Prepares necessary paperwork and materials in advance of the LCME visit.* Oversees the coordination of the annual Department of Medicine Research Day for students, residents, fellows and junior faculty. Coordinates submission of posters (90-100 per year), secures faculty judges (50) and facilitators (40), arranges the layout of the posters and finalizes the schedule of presentations.* Communicates regularly with Clerkship Directors, Program Director and Education Steering Committee regarding Clerkship matters including program requirements and student personnel matters.* Plans, facilitates and oversees the annual community preceptor recognition award banquet. Schedules educationally informative sessions whereby attendees can obtain CME credit. Coordinates with the Dean's Office and School of Medicine to manage logistics and funding for the event.* Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area.
