This position is located in the Office of the General Counsel, located in Rockville, MD. The supervisor is Marian Zobler. This position is a non-bargaining unit position. This position requires no travel. Travel expenses associated with an interview may be paid. Relocation expenses associated with job offer will NOT be paid.

Responsibilities
You will serve as an Administrative Assistant to the General Counsel. The work entails providing a range of moderately complex administrative and support functions vital to the Office of the General Counsel (OGC). Your daily tasks include assessing and reviewing all principal correspondence routed to the General Counsel, screening material received to determine: (a) whether it is of particular interest and calling attention to items requiring immediate action; (b) presenting other material requiring attention in order of priority; (c) obtaining and attaching related correspondence when necessary, and/or summarizing previous actions, prior to providing to the General Counsel for action; and (d) assuring incoming and outgoing correspondence is appropriately entered into the Agency Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS).
The selectee will act as liaison in the scheduling of meetings and conferences between the General Counsel and the Commissioners, the Executive Director for Operations, principal staff members, and external stakeholders. Schedules meetings with a view to optimal use of the General Counsel's time. In connection with these meetings, assembles background materials and presents them for the General Counsel's review and consideration in such an order that the General Counsel can properly prepare for meetings.
Other duties include: Accesses incoming telephone call requests for proper referral. This includes having substantial understanding of OGC divisional responsibilities when calls require referral within OGC, understanding agency processes for handling allegations to assure proper referral if the call relates to an allegation and is not appropriate for OGC front office personnel, understanding responsibilities between front office senior officials to avoid improper referrals that could have, or create the appearance of, ex parte or separation of functions issues.
Ensures proper handling of all classified, safeguards, and SUNSI/CUI material received by the General Counsel. Serves as custodian of all classified documents in the OGC front office, maintaining a record of all incoming classified or safeguards information and the disposition thereof. With respect to classified and safeguards documents, in compliance with regulations: (a) assures documents are properly secured in office safe while in use by front office personnel; (b) makes a physical inventory and reports periodically as required by agency procedures; (c) determines which classified or safeguards documents are no longer needed in the front office files and returns or disposes of material in accordance with agency procedures.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GG-10) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: comprehensive knowledge of the NRC organization, responsibilities, mission, and programs in order to identify documents and information to ensure that all appropriate OGC front office staff and OGC divisions are promptly informed, demonstrated administrative skill sufficient in the field of administration, along with exceptional ability in meeting and dealing with persons at high levels inside and outside the government.
