The Career Coach works with Community Action Council's Early Childhood Education households in order to identify job and career goals, connects families with training and education programs that support those goals, assists in job search and obtainment, and provides on going support to assist families with long term stability in employment placement. Additionally, this position works with community partners to create education and employment pipelines for Early Childhood Education families. Essential Functions: Meets with families to determine skill level, industry experience, education/training needs, and career goals. Guides families through assessments and create an individualized career plan. Assists with scheduling workshops, attendance and enrollment into programs at partnering education/training institutions to enhance job readiness and employability. Assists with developing resumes and cover letters, identifies opportunities for employment and assists with the application and interview process. Develops new partnerships with community entities that result in job training and placement opportunities for Early Childhood Education households. Coordinates supports that will assist families with attendance and participation in program activities and makes referrals to partnering agencies as appropriate. Manages the process and outcome of equipping Early Childhood Education families for success in targeted high-growth industries. Recognizes challenges and develops plans to aid in personal and career growth of Early Childhood Education Families. Participates in public speaking events. Communicates ideas, advice, feedback, and critiques professionally and concisely to stakeholders. Demonstrates a positive role model for others by maintaining the highest level of professional and ethical behavior throughout interactions with both internal and external customers. Attends work regularly per assigned work schedule and in accordance with Agency policy. Attends and participates in in-service training, staff meetings and other activities to facilitate professional development. Works cooperatively with others including all staff, supervisors, administrators, co-workers, community professionals, clients, vendors and the public. Follows instructions and abides by Agency policies and procedures. Assumes other duties, responsibilities and special projects as designated A' Job Requirements:Essential Abilities: Must be comfortable with public speaking and able to communicate ideas, advice, feedback, and critiques professionally and concisely. Must possess the ability to recognize weaknesses and develop plans to aid in personal and career growth Knowledge of workforce and industry trends in Howard County is highly recommended Must possess the ability to use your own personal vehicle to fulfill job related responsibilities Must possess the ability to be a positive role model by maintaining the highest level of professional and ethical behavior throughout your interactions with both internal and external customers. Must possess the ability to use technology for the completion of specified job duties. Must possess the ability to work cooperatively with others including all staff, supervisors, administrators, co-workers, community professionals, clients, vendors and the public. Must possess the ability to follow instructions and abide by Agency policies and procedures.
