Responsibilities

Serves as a technical authority for systems administration on a variety of systems and applications. This duty includes providing advice to technical personnel who are responsible for the installation and maintenance of equipment and systems.

Serves as a member of a 24/7/365 technology support team with 24/7 email and phone availability.

Serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist responsible for supporting, administering, and maintaining the IT Environment (ITE) and its related systems managed within ASPR.

Performs a wide range of telecommunications work in a number of functional areas (data, voice, radio, and video equipment and systems) to include coordinating the objectives and plans of one or more specialized programs.

Oversees the security posture for one or more system(s) throughout the entire lifecycle.

Provides information and assistance to customers.

Communicates complex technical requirements to non-technical personnel.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

For Both Grades:

Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

1.Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

2.Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

3.Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

4.Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

For GS-12 Grade Level:


Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service that includes performing at least two (2) of the following: 1) Evaluating system performance data to identify and address inefficiencies; 2) Providing oversight in the integration of information technology systems to ensure compliance with software and business requirements; and 3) Providing guidance in the development and implementation of information technology policies and procedures.

For GS-13 Grade Level:

Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that includes evaluating system performance data to identify and address inefficiencies; providing oversight in the integration of information technology systems to ensure compliance with software and business requirements; providing guidance in the development and implementation of information technology policies and procedures; and serving as technical specialist in developing and implementing infrastructure technologies.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
