Responsibilities

Serves as the Chief of the Communications Products and Services Branch (OC/CPSB) with the full responsibility of directing and managing proactive, comprehensive communications programs directed toward the general public, media and SAMHSA's stakeholders. The CPSB is responsible for communications product development and clearance; coordination of national public health campaigns; promotion and marketing of SAMHSA products; and public affairs and public relations.

Plans and manages projects involving extensive coordination with other organizations and leadership and direction of the work of subject matter experts. The incumbent works on multiple projects simultaneously and under extremely tight deadlines. Sets priorities when working on multiple assignments. The incumbent establishes productive relationships with a wide variety of public, private, community-based and professional organizations and associations involved in behavioral health services, evaluation, policy-making and delivery.

Consults with and provides guidance and support to program offices on education and media projects/initiatives of mutual interest that promote the overall goals and objectives of OC, SAMHSA and HHS. Services as a member of the OC and SAMHSA working groups and provides critical input on the development and coordination of new materials and information for dissemination to targeted audiences, people in recovery and their families, health professionals , or to the general public.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirement:

Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service that includes experience in agency communication efforts, including product development, clearance, and lifecycle management, public affairs relations, public health campaigns, and promotion and marketing of the agency's products and publications; managing contracts for an agency's publications fulfillment system including distribution of digital publications via the agency website and receiving and shipping products via the physical warehouse; leading and/or supervising a team that will assist with inventory management, agency style guides, concept and content clearance processes, and internal and external communication products.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
