Summary

About the Position: ATEC is participating in an alternative personnel system known as the Acquisition Workforce Demonstration Project. Among other features, the Demonstration Project replaced GS grade levels with occupational families and pay bands. The pay band NH-03 is equal to the former GS-12 step 01 through GS-13 step 10. Therefore, the control point will be set no higher than $143,798 with locality.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a Physical Security Specialist within a direct reporting unit (DRU) command headquarters, with primary responsibility for managing the command?s Physical Security program.
  • Conducts inspections of research, development, test, and evaluation (RTD and E) arms room arms, as well as ammunition and explosive (AA and E) storage facilities.
  • Oversees the development of inspection and assessment findings into final report; and briefs requisite command on physical security and force protection vulnerabilities and violations.
  • Provides guidance and direction for subordinate organization compliance with physical security policy and regulations in support of surety operations and functions.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance be obtained, and maintained throughout employment.
  • You will be required to sign DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical Under the Depart of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program) and participate in random drug testing.
  • Position requires a valid state-issued motor vehicle driver?s license be maintained throughout employment.
  • Position may require occasional evening, nights and weekend duty in support of mission requirements.
  • Position requires access to arms and ammunition, and is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Position requires occasional travel away from the normal duty station (up to 25% of the time).
  • Position requires heavy lifting of 50lbs or more.
  • Position requires an initial physical examination and yearly physical thereafter.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Physical Security Certification within twenty four months of entrance on duty.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: is defined as work that involves one year experience; 1) Assisting in the development of physical security procedures; 2) Providing interpretation and guidance to management officials and other security specialist; AND: 3) Conducting security training and/or briefings.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the NH-02/GS-11 pay band position in the federal service.
