Job Description

The Pricing Analyst will be part of our Pricing and Sales Strategy team who is responsible for supporting Sales and managing pricing and inventory with one goal in mind: continuously helping to maximize advertising value across The Washington Post's platforms for The Post and our clients. This position will be responsible for helping to manage our digital and print rate cards, to analyze sales and proposal data to understand demand and availability to help optimize pricing. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for working closely with product marketing, ad operations, and our client services team to help recommend pricing and packaging to sell new opportunities as well as improving the monetization of existing products and packages. The ideal candidate will work across our direct digital, programmatic, and print products to not only provide data but to take that data to make recommendations to our sales team that should improve their success and value to their clients. The candidate must have excellent analytical skills, be able to make informed recommendations based on the data, be able to balance multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, and have strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the physical rate cards and ensure all prices are accurate, documented, and communicated
  • Provide recommendations for new sales opportunities and campaign optimizations collaborating with cross functional groups including Client Services, Product Marketing, Ad Ops, and Sales
  • Provide guidance and approvals on pricing exceptions ensuring consistency in our go to market pricing
  • Use historical and pipeline information to forecast sales demand in highly requested areas and sponsorships
  • Gather performance data against various KPI's to support pricing and ROI
  • Respond to urgent pricing requests from sales and client services team
  • Review and improve forecasting model accuracy
  • Share insights to help with vertical sales strategies
  • Various reporting

  • BA/BS Degree
  • 2+ years of media experience in pricing, yield, client services, strategy, and/or data analytics
  • Use of Excel and familiarity with analytics/reporting tool such as a Domo, Tableau, etc
  • Experience working with ad sales pricing preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Able to manage multiple priorities concurrently and work effectively under pressure
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
