About the Position: This position is a military technician position with the 99th Readiness Division (RD), Reserve Personnel Action Center (RPAC), Meade Hub, MD040, located at Fort Meade, Maryland.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data to resolve recurring pay problems.
  • Review and analyze master military pay account transactions and reports for reserve service members.
  • Assist in the development and dissemination of SOPs, directives and instructions.
  • Prepare reports and/or briefings for in-progress status information.
  • Ensure uniform interpretation and application of regulations and directives for consistency within the organization.
  • Ensure written correspondence is in accordance with military policies and regulations.
  • Compile and analyze data to identify trends, deficiencies and accomplishments.
  • Advise Supervisors on changes of personnel processes.
  • Respond to customer inquiries to resolve personnel, pay, and service record issues.
  • Research background information for required actions through available tools such as databases and files.
  • Prepare or ensure accurate preparation of military personnel actions.
  • Advise supported units and soldiers on military personnel matters.
  • Research Army personnel regulations to provide technical guidance to staff and management.
  • Review personnel and pay actions for appropriate documentation.
  • Audit a variety of military pay actions to ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Research regulations in order to resolve complex pay complaints and issues.

  • THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • The duties of this position may require the incumbent to work evenings, nights, holidays, and/or weekends to include modification in shifts and/or tour of duty.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing military personnel actions; researching pay complaints; analyzing pay issues; reviewing incoming regulations; ensuring compliance with rules and regulations; advising on pay and personnel processes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration or Human Resources.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
