Summary

This position is located in the Information Technology Group, Fort Lee, Virginia. The primary work of this position includes responsibility for analyzing, managing, or performing work necessary to plan, design, develop, acquire, document, test, implement, integrate, maintain, or modify systems for solving problems or accomplishing work processes by using information technology (IT) systems such as computers, servers, routers, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve the complete range of problems within the scope of the Help Desk and refer problems requiring highly specialized expertise to the appropriate IT specialty office. Provide advice and assistance to customers and troubleshoot complex problem to minimize systems interruptions within critical business activities.
  • Adapt and implement systems diagnostic and maintenance tools to ensure the availability and functionality of systems required to support organizational objectives.
  • Evaluate and recommend selection of new system diagnostic tool and install and maintain software and hardware.
  • Control current versions and future releases of application software, and document the physical configuration of an information system. Optimize the functionality of networks and systems and diagnose and recover failed systems.
  • Provide Internet service such as Web sites and file transfer protocol sites to ensure that new Web pages are consistent with relevant design and formatting standards and that Web-based content is accessible to all users.
  • Advise content developers on Web page requirements and assist in the development, configuration, installation, and maintenance of networked systems including local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs). Perform routine network configuration management functions.
  • Maintain database operations and assist in returning disrupted database systems to normal operations and create reports and manipulate data in response to customer requirements.

To qualify for this position you must possess One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. To be creditable, specialized experience must be at the GS-11or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.

Basic Requirements:
This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Experience.

Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

Experience must be IT related and may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT Certification) as appropriate. Applicants must have IT related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
