Summary

This position is located in the Justice Management Division, Budget Staff, Law Enforcement Group. The Budget Staff serves the DOJ and the Attorney General as the experts in a wide range of budget and program issues affecting the Department and represents the Department In budget matters before various outside organizations such as the Office of Management and Budget and congressional staff.

Responsibilities

  • You will plan and carry out assignments and accomplish work in each phase of budgeting
  • You will apply guidelines using analytical methods when applying policies, regulations, and directives.
  • You will prepare monthly and quarterly status of funds for submission to senior management.
  • You will resolve budgetary issues and problems to achieve financial and program objectives.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Budget Analyst, (GS-0560-9), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to the series and grade you are applying to.

To qualify for this position at the GS-09 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service, experience includes:t
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service:1. Analyzes, evaluates, recommends, and revises annual and supplemental requests for assigned accounts. 2. Reviews historical data and prepares estimates of future requirements for an operating program, or federal agency. 3. Develops a concise, clear picture of budget estimates and supporting narrative for top management. 4. Resolves budgetary issues and problems to achieve financial and program objectives. 5. Prepares and assembles a portion of the justification material used by the federal agency to support a substantial segment of the budget in formal presentations to Department leadership.
OR
B.Master's or equivalent graduate degree; or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR
C. A combination of education and experience listed above.
