You also have: * Experience: 8-10 years of corporate government relations or similar experience * Advocacy, Communications, Influence: Ability to convey complex messages clearly--orally and in writing--and to influence external audiences as well as corporate colleagues at all levels * Digital / Social Media Skills: Ability to create, curate, and manage relevant social media content and to reach target audiences * Agile: Comfortable and enthusiastic about working in a dynamic, evolving, boundary-less organization in a corporate environment * Business Partner Orientation: Appreciate the importance of being a business-partner to our internal customers and have curiosity and ability to obtain business acumen * Project Management: Demonstrated project management skills, including balancing multiple assignments from conception to completion on schedule and within budget * Travel: 10% travel expected * Organization: Excel at juggling multiple priorities and a demanding workload, including strong project management skills * Diligence and Attention to Detail: Produce quality work in a fast-paced environment without losing sight of important details along the way * Self-Motivated: A self-starter with ability to initiate projects and engage necessary internal and external stakeholders to achieve results What You'll Do Stanley Black & Decker strives to be a leader in financial performance, innovation, and social responsibility and recognizes our responsibility to a broad swath of stakeholders in the communities where we operate in the US and around the world. Our integrated Corporate Communications Department combines public, government, and community relations and marketing functions to position the company and its leaders to achieve these goals by fulfilling SBD's societal role; impacting political and social outcomes involving our government, industry, trade associations, non-profits, and community partners; and enhancing the company's external profile with key opinion leaders, the media and commercial partners. This Washington, DC-based position reports to the VP, Global Government Relations & Citizenship and will play a key supporting role in the SBD Global Government Relations & Citizenship team's ability to deliver government and citizenship outcomes for SBD with a primary focus on government relations competencies at the federal level. Specifically, you will: * Builds Stanley Black & Decker's political and social capital by serving as an ambassador for Stanley Black & Decker in Washington and in the communities where the company operates * Defines SBD's policy agenda, prepares and organizes briefing documents on policy issues and policymaker engagements including official congressional office, administration, and state government official engagements, facility tours and visits, and others * Forms productive working relationships with policymakers in Congress, the White House, the Executive branch, and in the states * Advocates Stanley Black & Decker's position on public policies with policymakers, connecting the Company's purpose, values, and business objectives to policy outcomes * Communicates Stanley Black & Decker's purpose and business objectives to policymakers and other stakeholders * Actively engages in relevant trade association committees to drive agendas, assert policy recommendations and advocacy strategies * Partners with internal stakeholders--employees, facility leaders and corporate leaders--to connect business objectives to government and com
