Highly Reputable Construction Company Seeks a Construction Estimator ( Glass and Glazing ) A Little About Us Kensington Glass Arts, Inc. is the leading fabricator and installer of high-end interior architectural glass in the Maryland-Baltimore-Washington region. We have a diverse portfolio of projects in the glass & glazing industry and is searching for and individual that matches their passion for the industry. We are looking to add a Sr. Estimator who takes pride in their work, and has diverse commercial glass experience. Estimator Qualifications * 5+ years of commercial glass estimating experience. * Strong communication skills. * Must be able to read and diagnose blueprints. * Experienced in using bluebeam or other estimating software. * Mus be able to read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings. * Great leadership skills. General Summary The Project Estimator is responsible for creating cost proposals of glazing installations and turning them into sales for the Contract Division. Key Responsibilities * Review contract documents, identify glazing scope items, calculate expected costs, write proposals and interact with clients to generate sales contracts for the installation division. * Work with vendors to get best pricing and commitments to produce work for fixed costs. * The Project Estimator will be OSHA 10 certified. SPECIFIC DUTIES * Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for commercial glazing installations applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques and processes. * Compute cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness. * Assume responsibility for creating and maintaining project specific organizational systems (such as new bid folders and files). * Create and maintain database of current and potential clients. * Forecast and track key account metrics and analyze data to help establish company strategies and focus. * Overcome objections of prospective customers to facilitate contract awards. * Emphasize product/service features and benefits, discuss KGa philosophy and strategies and generate buy-in from potential clients. * Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to ?portray the company in a positive manner. * Periodically conduct information-only presentations, such as seminars, trade show demonstrations, and other efforts. * Build and maintain ongoing awareness of new products and services, competitor activities, and other research. * Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships. Develop a trusted advisor relationship with key customer stakeholders and executive sponsors. * Assist with high severity requests or issue escalations as needed. * Propose solutions to technical issues and help to implement proposed solutions and act as technical resource for project management staff. * Consult and interact with other KGa divisions as required to facilitate overall company efficiency and performance. * Coordination of receiving, tracking, and organization of all estimating related document and bidding documents * Review awarded projects to establish critical path milestones and propose action paths, schedules, processes and accuracy of scopes. * Propose solutions to technical issues and help to implement proposed solutions and act as technical resource for project management staff. * Arrange for pick up and drop off of bid documents and materials. * Interact with vendors to establish project costs. Assist clients with product specification. * Negotiate new contracts and establish relationships with clients. * Initiate new systems and procedures to improve efficiency such as project costing systems, labor review and analysis systems, project projections and other systems necessary to support growth of Company. * Review awarded projects to establish critical path milestones and propose action paths, schedules, processes and accuracy of scopes.
