Identify intelligence information through the analysis of data captured from applications and petitions. Analyze complex data captured from applications, petitions, and information obtained from a variety of sources. Produce intelligence products related to national security, public safety, and fraud trends that address Key Intelligence Questions (KIQs). Disseminate intelligence products that support the mission of the office and the agency. Produce raw intelligence reporting in the form of Intelligence Information Reports (IIR). Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a probationary period of 1 year. Qualifications The Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate (FDNS) was established within USCIS to strengthen national security and the integrity of the countrys legal immigration system by closely aligning the adjudication of immigration benefits and services with the identification of potential threats to national security and/or public safety, the detection and deterrence of fraud, and the use of law enforcement and intelligence information to ensure optimal security for US communities. FDNS systematically identifies, updates, and records indicators of fraudulent activities; manages fraud cases; identifies vulnerabilities and other weaknesses that compromise the integrity of the legal immigration system; and coordinates and provides logistical support in law enforcement and national security matters. FDNS is the primary conduit for information sharing and collaboration with law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Training: New recruits will attend a 6-week BASIC training program (if not previously attended). This technical training must be successfully completed according to the standards of the agency. Failure to do so will be grounds for mandatory removal from the position. Such failure will result in either reassignment to a different position, demotion, or separation by appropriate procedures. FOBTP: Selectees will be required to attend a 3-week FOBTP (Fraud Officer Basic Training Program). A pre-requisite to this course is attendance at USCIS BASIC (if not previously attended). GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Completed formal USG, accredited, or documented intelligence-based training program related to All-Source Intelligence, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Imagery Intelligence (IMINT), Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Geospatial intelligence (GEOINT), Measurement and Signature Intelligence (MASINT), Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) or a sub category. Applying (and modifying, if necessary) established intelligence practices to specific problems, which involve many variables. Preparing descriptive and current intelligence reports that accurately detail pertinent facts and technical aspects of research to include case/project analysis. Assisting in identifying key technical issues and evaluating alternatives for complex administrative and technical policies and procedures and participating in the development and drafting of policy, procedures, and guidelines required to accomplish overall or special segments of the intelligence program. Establishing and maintaining contacts with law enforcement and intelligence organizations (ie DHS, IE, IC, and SLTT partners).
