Sr. Geologist with Security Clearance

Versar is seeking a self-motivated Mid-to-Senior-level Environmental Engineer/Geologist or Scientist to support our Washington DC metro area, Denver, CO, or Phoenix, AZ office. This position is organized under Versar's Environmental Services Group supporting the Remediation Technical Service Area (TSA) with work in the federal/Department of Defense sector (Air Force, USACE, Army, Navy, National Guard Bureau). The successful candidate must provide technical leadership, subject matter expertise, and broad-based multidisciplinary oversight to proposal and project teams within the Remediation group, conducting both internal and client-facing meetings related to project work, training/mentoring junior staff, and providing creative problem solving leadership. Primary responsibilities include: * Writing scopes of work and developing cost estimates and schedules associated with remediation projects for Opportunities with the Air Force as well as the EPA, USACE, National Guard Bureau, Navy, and other federal sector customers. * Providing definitive knowledge of engineering or geology/hydrogeology related to site investigation and remediation technology, technology providers and services, products, vendors, subcontractors, lab scale/bench scale testing firms, and other subcontractors, consultants, and team partners to create robust teams for complex problems. * Project management of existing work at sites across the US will be necessary though the position requires subject matter expertise related to site remediation, remedial design, selection of remedial technology, etc. more than PM/PgM expertise. * Technical leadership for hazardous waste remediation under CERCLA and RCRA programs throughout the project life cycle with focus on remedy implementation and beyond. * Subject matter expertise in one or more specific areas of remedial engineering, geology, or chemistry (eg, site optimization, vapor intrusion/vapor migration, critical process analysis, risk and exposure assessment, HRSC, biological processes, PFAS, etc.). * Ability to understand and drive Risk Management for remediation strategies including development of Risk Mitigation and Contingency Plans for fixed price remediation. * Demonstration of subject matter expertise (SME) for the analysis, design, installation, and operation of treatment strategies for wastes in soil, groundwater, air, sediment, drinking water, and providing scientific expertise to protect human health and the environment. * Directing Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies and Remedial Designs at hazardous waste sites. * Writing samples from proposals and projects, including UFP-QAPP work plans, and various technical reports to satisfy RCRA and CERCLA requirements (RI, FS, Risk Assessment, etc.) may be requested. Minimun Requirements: * BS in Engineering, Geology or related scientific field (MS preferred). * Professional Registration (PE or PG preferred; RPM, CHMM, or related considered). * 8-10 years of demonstrated Project Management experience; PMP preferred but not required. * 8-10 years of demonstrated professional consulting experience as a Project Manager, Technical Professional, or related position in a progressively responsible capacity providing staff management, project management, BD-marketing-proposals, and proven technical excellence. * Demonstrated strength in technical proposal development, capture strategy, WIN themes, proposal planning, and driving schedule for completion of proposal activities. * Prior environmental restoration experience with DOD, DOE, Air Force, EPA, Navy, USACE, or related agency work. * Prior experience on long-term projects/contracts that use performance-based criteria for project execution and payment. * Prior experience leading teams in collaborative, challenging, and rewarding environment * US Citizenship or ability to obtain security clearance for work on DoD installations is required.
