We are seeking a Security Officer to join our responsible for the personnel/physical security functions for the FED/CIV Division in Sterling, VA. **Until COVID restrictions are lifted, on-site work is required but flexible; and dependant on multiple variables following CDC guidelines. Principle duties and Responsibilities include: * Performs a variety of physical security tasks in support of the facility security function, including assisting employees with obtaining ID badges, identification cards and reader access * Monitors and maintains access control systems. * Assists with planning, implementation, and execution of new and existing access control systems. * Assists with administration of security programs, develop, coordinate, and ensure compliance with State, and Federal Regulations * Collects and submits electronic fingerprints and optical reading into systems. * Support Compliance activities and customer liaison inspections as necessary * Processes visit authorizations for employees and guest to gain access to restricted areas. * Verifies accuracy of information prior to issuing clearances. * Coordinates information exchanges with internal and external entities to include other GD companies, HQs, and customers. * Establishes and maintains security related files. * Enters security information into automated system and runs reports as needed. * Utilize security database to capture actions and ensure data integrity. * Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing. * Strong customer service and communication skills. To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following: * Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related business discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience. * At least two (2) years of related experience in physical or industrial security administration, preferably in the government contracting industry. * Active Top Secret clearance * Training and experience working within the cleared environment * Experience with Closed Area buildouts * Experience performing Physical Security functions * Possess strong verbal and written communication skills The following is not required but strongly preferred: * Working knowledge of the Department of Defense (DoD) National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM); We are GDIT.
