BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY : The ECM/FileNet Senior Software Engineer is one the leading experts in the company on ECM & FileNet services and is responsible for owning the development, services, support, and implementation of the architectural designs within the EMC/FileNet environment. This position will be responsible for ensuring that software developed meets CarMax® quality expectations and requires expert knowledge about all applicable business processes. This position will be tightly aligned with and take direction from management, team leads, architects and work closely with our business partners to strategically drive transformative progress in the ECM platform. Senior Software Engineers partners with Developers, Engineers, and Solution Architects to develop solutions and implement standards that ensure unrivaled customer experiences. Associates in this role are the experts of their craft and seen as a platform and implementation owner. Associates are active contributors in the industry, have established strong partnerships with industry experts, and have a passion for continuous education. The character of this position is one of hands-on development, oversight of the technical tasks of others, and is the owner of the standards and best practices. This position functions as a technical mentor to others and is an expert in supporting multiple areas of the business. This successful candidate for this role will be an expert FileNet Content Management solution full-stack developer with experience in building high performing, scalable, enterprise grade applications and an expert platform solutions engineer with experience in building high performing, scalable, enterprise infrastructure on multiple environments including Azure, AIX, Linux, Solaris and Windows environments. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Contribute in all phase of the development lifecycle * Contribute in all phase of the infrastructure development and application deployment lifecycle * Write well designed, testable, documented, efficient code * Write well designed, testable, documented, efficient build and configuration scripts * Own and take responsibility all assigned tasks * Meet all project goals, milestones and tasks on time * Strong leader of the team through support issues * Participates in a 24x7 on-call rotation as scheduled, and the ability to perform after hours support as needed * Proven ability to lead support conference calls * Passionate about support & ownership of all areas under their responsibility * Effectively categorizes support problems and responds with the appropriate level of urgency * Functions as the second level support in after-hours calls as the support expert for their platform of mastery * Manages support statistics and reduction of support costs by identifying and designing system enhancements * Strong mentor to others in the business processes implemented in the team's applications in order to provide resolution to support problems * Expert at effectively estimating the time it will take for themselves and others to perform tasks and are able to influence the team's work to be completed within those timeframes * Expert at identifying tasks and impediments, appropriately and effectively escalates through the appropriate channels * Strong mentor to others in best practices, design patterns, server technologies and paradigms * Comfortable with providing developmental feedback to others and manager * Effectively estimate time required for related technical efforts for projects of all sizes and delivers multiple complete solutions as well as estimated and actual costs * Proven ability to find optimal win-win solutions to complex business and technical needs * Expert in identifying minimal viable technical products that meet business requirements * Manages and owns libraries, frameworks, services, and API and is responsible for coordinating and gaining buy-in for upgrades, understands the strengths and opportunities in each * Combines deep user insight with collaborative design and development to create innovative software for the CarMax® brand * Strong at influencing the work of others in order to drive consistent user experiences * Lives in the forefront of change, quickly adopts and gains buy-in for new technologies * Anticipates future changes in the technology landscape * Provides input into the Total Cost of Ownership * Owns the technical documentation for designs, services, and database * Obtains and licenses software by gathering required information from vendors * Recommends purchases by providing technical and business value documentation * Dedicated to continuing education and mastery of software engineering tools * Owns system performance, optimizes for speed and scalability * Other duties as assigned Technical Expertise: * Experience in reviewing and mentoring the succe
