Lead Network Engineer
Job Description Peraton is currently seeking to hire a Expert Network Engineer to lead customer network and system engineering functions to maintain, modify, and enhance customer network capabilities and services. Candidate will be responsible to sustain existing network standards, equipment, and designs and identify and engineer beneficial upgrades, modifications, and technology insertions. Candidate will work with vendors and other engineers to assess and understand technologies and develop proposed beneficial technical solutions for our customer's environment * Define trade spaces for network hardware (routers/switches, WAN optimization, software-defined network, etc.) * Study the equipment within those spaces and compile a technology roadmap for each * Lead technology upgrades and engineering initiatives * Select standards-based technology platforms to support defined technology roadmaps * Identify technology gaps and work with system engineers and managers to evaluate and select appropriate value-add solutions and innovations * Work with the Systems Engineering team to create network diagrams and otherwise document solutions for customers * Define network solutions for customers (Switching, routing, tunnels, overlays, etc.) * Define standard configurations for devices * Define and document Network Engineering Standards * Define and document standards for Network Performance and Optimization * Manage IP addressing and ensure consistent and accurate implementation and management * Manage Domain Name Services (DNS) * Design, implement, and maintain secure TCP/IP networks IAW industry standards and new technologies such as Software-defined networks (SDN). * Develop and enforce security standards for networking equipment * Lead validation trials of platform /service designs; assist deployment and operationalization of new technology platform / services * Develop and maintain a network technology roadmap and be prepared to detail recommended hardware and software expenditures on short notice * Manage project schedules and aid quick identification and resolution of technical challenges and obstacles to keep projects on schedule. * Perform independent research and report on findings. * Work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment and lead continuous improvement initiatives. * Maintain configuration management control in accordance with defined standards, policies, and industry best practices Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years' experience; may be substituted for equivalent relevant experience * Strong knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, virtualization, IP platforms, protocols, and services * Strong knowledge of network performance technologies including monitoring tools/solutions * Network design, operation, and configuration of equipment * MS Windows and Linux OS knowledge and associated environmental technologies * Experience defining and setting technical standards for an enterprise organization * Direct experience working with clients on requirements, change requests etc. * Strong analytical ability, judgment and performance analysis techniques * Strong communication skills both written and verbal and able to effectively interact with and brief senior-level executives * Ability to understand client expectations and to resolve issues that may affect delivery * Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with teams * Self-starter, with a demonstrated ability to learn beyond formal training with a strong aptitude for delivering quality architectures * Configuration Management knowledge and discipline * Experience fully documenting networks with spreadsheets, diagrams, etc. * MUST HAVE ACTIVE/CURRENT TS/SCI W/ POLY LEVEL CLEARANCE Desired Qualifications * CCNA certification * CCNP certification Peraton drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy.
