Responsibilities * The SME for Directed Energy shall support PD oversight of the Joint Directed Energy Transition Office (DE-JTO), to include administrative support to the DDRE(M) Joint Directed Energy Technology Coordination Council. * Develop and coordinate concepts and requirements for the application of current and emerging technologies as they apply to USD's R&E program. * Conduct Directed Energy technology research analysis for future warfighting construct. * Provide programmatic expertise to the Government from system concept definition through technology transfer activities. * Develop technology roadmaps, risk management plans, and strategies to acquisition and programmatic decisions relative to USD R&E mission objectives. * Work independently and with stakeholders to provide directed energy systems engineering and architecture development expertise to OUSD(R&E) leaders. * Build proactive relationships among OUSD(R&E) DDRE(AC) and DDRE(Mod) internal stakeholders * Perform engineering studies and analysis associated with directed energy systems and oversight of specifications and standards that will be applied across the portfolio of programs * Make recommendations to the development of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) pertinent to mission needs and technical capabilities. * Assess and advise on Joint Capability Technology Demonstrations (JCTD) requirements, capabilities, limitations, and constraints as they pertain to defense mission resilience and national security. * Represent USD R&E on Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and participate in Government-approved conferences and forums in addition to specific USD R&E projects. Qualifications REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE * 7+ years of recent Directed Energy program experience * Master's Degree in a STEM field +14 years of experience * Active DoD issued TS/SCI Clearance * In-depth technical knowledge and experience with existing and future advanced DoD weapon systems and their capabilities, concept of operations, limitations, and upgrade capacities. * Previous experience with Department of Defense RDT&E mission and processes. * Previous experience in engineering, analysis of alternatives, integration, requirements, and testing. * Excellent writing, communication and briefing skills.
