We are searching for an Accountant to provide technical, financial advice, guidance, and instruction to managers, staff, and others on the full range for financial processes, workflow and priorities Agency's Accounting Program. You will be supporting the Special Access Required (SAR) in Reston, VA. This position falls under the recently awarded SCMP II Finance-ACQ-HR contract (5 Base Yrs + 2 Option Yrs); we're currently halfway through Base-Year-2 of the Period of Performance (JAN 2018 to DEC 2024). As an experienced accountant, you will be expected to act on the final determination and prove status updates as necessary. You will work independently and as part of a team to review, reconcile and process financial statements. You will also be expected to prepare, analyze and review bank statements, general ledgers, balance sheets, and income statements to identify and resolve discrepancies. Responsibilities Ensure financial program data integrity and reporting accuracy. Establish Sponsor Standard Operating Procedures. Reviews and assesses financial processes and procedures to identify and implement changes to gain efficiencies and strengthen internal controls. Analyze and reconcile General Ledger accounts to identify and resolve all complex discrepancies. Provide technical, financial advice and guidance to managers within the area of assignment and/or subordinates and team members on routine-to-moderately-complex financial matters and accounting procedure issues. Required Skills Ability to present financial information logically and concisely. Ability to operate independently with general guidance is required. Analytical ability to identify problems and issues related to financial data. Ability to learn new software programs and tools. The Accountant will use Sponsor Accounting systems and Microsoft Excel to perform the analysis and at a minimum should have Intermediate level Excel skills to include: o Linking Sheets and Workbook, Transposing data, Conditional Math (SUMIF, COUNTIF), Subtotaling, Creating Pivot Tables, Matching FUNCTIONS (VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, OFFSET, Separate Data), Naming Cells/Named Ranges, Creating Drop-Downs, Charts, Error Checking, Conditional Formatting, Statistics (Count, CountA, Average, Median, LEN) Protecting Data. Experience & Education Minimum two (2) years demonstrated professional accounting experience with a strong understanding of the responsibilities associated with financial management, accounting, auditing, and/or fiscal control. A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field with at least 24 accounting credit hours (may include business law or auditing).
