Your Responsibilities Include Lead formulation of the team's policy proposals in immigration policy, including the identification and execution of opportunities for greater issue point-of-view development on the AFP policy team Form and evaluate achievable policy recommendations that can lead to our vision and collaborate across departments to create a succinct roadmap to reach policy objectives Develop and write research,policy reports, and op-edsfor an audience of staffers, policy experts, and the media which will directly advance our reform agenda and contribute to AFP's understanding of this critical issue Partnerwith AFP's federal lobbying team, state directors, and communications capabilities to execute an integrated advocacy strategy Represent AFP in public forums including seminars, scholarly panels, debates, and in print and broadcast media Advise and collaborate across our philanthropic community to develop strategies which advance our goals and vision Review and help cultivate external partnership opportunities and make recommendations to key decision makers Mentorpolicy analysts on the team and direct their research and writing efforts Knowledge and Skills You Bring to the Organization Graduate level degree or equivalent work experience in economics, political science, or related field Deep knowledge of immigration policy Understanding of public policy reform dynamics and strategies Outstanding writing and analytical skills Strong oral communication skills Strategic thinker who is knowledgeable of the key thought leaders and organizations in their field of expertise High level of initiative and ability to work independently and in a team setting Solid understanding of and passion for individual liberty and classical liberal philosophy Entrepreneurial spirit and high sense of urgency Professional network of immigration policy experts Standout Candidates May Also Bring Deep understanding of the Immigration and Nationality Act, the federal regulatory process, and overlapping areas between immigration policy and other policy issues.
