VG Systems is seeking a confident, and talented Drupal Developer with great communication skills and the ability to work directly with stakeholders of varying knowledge, in support of our customer's public-facing websites. The Drupal Developer performs a variety of complex tasks related to architecting, designing, developing, troubleshooting, debugging, and implementing software code for websites, Web-based systems, and other applications. This position will support the web development Project Manager and provide technical leadership and guidance to team members that are also responsible for the development of this website. The Lead will be expected to have, communicate, and implement a vision for ways to improve and enhance the website to take full advantage of Drupals capability. Job Duties: Participating as a member of a small team designing applications to facilitate initiatives. Applying critical thinking skills in application design, requirements interpretation, and ideation in a collaborative environment. Building systems that can coexist with legacy code. Developing custom Drupal modules and themes, as well as maintaining existing Drupal codebases. Developing a design library for cross-application compliance with accepted standards. Developing and maintaining web-based systems and responsive mobile web applications using the latest markup and scripting languages including JavaScript, HTML5, and PHP. Ensuring that own and peers applications meet deliverable and functional requirements. This includes cross-browser, usability, and accessibility testing. Integrating applications with new or existing systems via APIs. These could include simple JSON data feeds. Conducting code reviews and mentor peer developers enforcing the coding standards defined by the group. Comment and write clean code. Writing and maintaining existing gulp or other build tool scripts for testing code. Learning and incorporating modern web development workflows, using CSS pre-processors, Javascript transpilers, and package managers to keep a modular and maintainable codebase. Managing your work and merging your code for various websites in Github. Performing other duties as assigned. Requirements: BS or BA in computer science or related field of study, or at least 2 years of applicable experience. 1+ years experience of professional Drupal 7 and 8 development; custom theme development experience is preferred; custom module development experience ideal, but not strictly required 1+ years of working experience with PHP. Good knowledge of the latest web markup including HTML5, CSS3, and SASS for building responsive websites and handling cross-browser compatibility issues. Experience performing accessibility testing and knowledge of WCAG 2.1 or Section 508 standards is preferred. Experience with the US Web Design System 2.0 is preferred. Experience with the Bootstrap 3.0 framework is helpful.
