We are seeking an experienced statistician, modeler, or data scientist to support current work at United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Applicant will need to be proficient in SAS and possess a current Top Secret clearance or recent CBP background investigation. Tasks will include, but are not limited to: What you'll do + Performing ad hoc data analysis as directed. + Developing and maintaining predictive models. + Collecting and cleaning relevant data to identify systemic issues, and working with DBAs to develop mitigation strategies. + Documenting mission-specific workflows for modeling context. + Engineering new features for future model development. + Experimenting with numerous supervised learning algorithms to continuously assess existing model efficacy, as well as create new models. + Exploring data and performing pattern analysis to brainstorm new approaches to modeling illicit behavior. Other Responsibilities + Provide reliable delivery of targeted project results through role as expert in the application of specific SAS methodologies, projects and technologies. + Provide data and analytical expertise to projects. + Understand client business pains and translating them into solutions. + Collaborate with other professional services colleagues, project managers, and sales teams on customer implementations. + Understand, utilize and communicate best practice methodologies and industry standards internally and externally. + Participate in product and solution training to acquire and maintain a detailed level of product knowledge of core components of SAS offerings. + Leverage detailed technical knowledge to support sales opportunities and implementations across solution domains. + Conduct project requirements gathering. + Participate in and leads design process. + Scope and define work effort, resource plan, and estimates cost on phase/project. What we're looking for + Must be currently located in the Washington DC area. + Bachelors Degree in Business, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics or related field. + 8 years' of professional consulting experience involving implementations of analytical applications or data manipulation using SAS. + Regular travel to client sites in the DC metro area. + Current Top Secret Clearance, or Background Investigation at CBP. Preferred qualifications + Master's degree preferably in Business, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or related field. + 4 additional years of analytics, business intelligence and/or data management experience. + Ability to communicate with people of various technical and business backgrounds, including the ability to explain difficult technical concepts in simple terms to business users. + Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. + Ability to work as an individual or part of a team. + Good knowledge of SAS products, peripheral technologies and implementation best practices. + Good problem solving, organizational, decision-making written, oral and interpersonal skills. + Ability to conceptualize clients needs and translate into specific implementation strategies. + Previous Federal government experience. + Knowledge of network technologies and security concepts. + Understanding of open source programming languages. #LI-KW1 Why SAS + We love living the #SASlife and believe that happy, healthy people have a passion for life, and bring that energy to work.
