Job Summary/Company: Sparks Group has partnered with a leading human-rights focused advocacy organization in DC seeking an HR Director to support the planning and design of HR programs and policies in a highly visible role. Responsibilities:
  • Plan, design, and implement HR programs, services and policies
  • Manage employee relations matters, including providing resolutions, pertaining to performance issues and compliance with union and non-union areas
  • Work with VP of HR and senior management to implement initiatives to enhance organizational culture
  • Produce best practices for addressing employee concerns, documentation, and ensuring fair practices in resolutions
  • Manage HR team including hiring, performance reviews, coaching, etc.
  • Help design compensation and benefit programs
  • Develop recruitment strategies
  • Update, develop, and implement organizational policies and procedures
  • Responsible for onboarding, working with leadership team to provide the necessary training
  • Facilitate cross-training and succession planning
  • Oversee budget planning
  • Maintain HRIS, ensure proper handling of employee records
  • Recommend process improvements where necessary

Qualifications/Background Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 7 years' of experience or combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership with nonprofit and diverse workforce
  • Interest and experience with diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives or other advocacy issues, including LGBTQ
  • SPHR or SHRM- SCP preferred
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Experience in developing and executing training programs
  • Experience with labor relations a plus
  • Ability to collect and analyze HR data
  • Experience with HRIS, including reporting
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws pertaining to all areas of HR
