Responsibilities

  • Selectee provides input and recommendations on issues spanning the entire scope of the Deputy?s line of business and activities.
  • Participates, collaborates and leads farm program initiatives with applicable Division Directors, Deputy Administrators and other Agency and Department officials in the development and formulation of FSA program policies and procedures.
  • Analyzes and evaluates nationwide policies and program operations to ensure appropriate emphasis on program goals and on the accomplishment of broad farm policy objectives.
  • Fully participates with Deputy Administrators and the appropriate staff in analysis, evaluation, statistical, and automated systems support of Farm Programs.
  • Obtains and provides technical information pertaining to Agency programs and fosters cooperation with, and understanding of, new or revised programs and policies.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement 02/26/2021 including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

Time in grade: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

For the GS-14 level: One full-time year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service that demonstrates mastery in the following: 1) administering, and reviewing programs and administrative and management activities; 2) knowledge of current Federal agricultural trends, understanding of farming practices and customs and of the economic needs of farm communities; AND 3) serving in a leadership capacity working closely with Federal agricultural agencies, farmers, farm organizations/groups, agricultural and civic leaders in the administration of varied, complex, significant, and sensitive programs related to agricultural programs and of the particular application of national policies and objectives at the State level.

For the GS-15 level: One full-time year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service that demonstrates mastery in the following: 1) directing, planning, administering, and reviewing programs and administrative and management activities; 2) expert knowledge of current Federal agricultural trends, understanding of farming practices and customs and of the economic needs of farm communities; AND 3) serving in a leadership capacity working closely with Federal agricultural agencies, farmers, farm organizations/groups, agricultural and civic leaders in the administration of varied, complex, significant, and sensitive programs related to agricultural programs and of the particular application of national policies and objectives at the State level.
