Summary

This position is located in the Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information (OSII), Intelligence and Information Systems Division (IISD), Information Systems Support Branch (ISSB) in Washington, D.C.

Performs long-range planning, review, analyze and coordinate a variety of studies/projects related to several automated information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates/participates in the Treasury Enforcement Communications System (TECS), the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS), the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS), and other automated information systems used throughout ATF Headquarters, field divisions/offices.
  • Evaluates current operating programs/projects associated with information systems, including work objectives/operations, and staffing resource estimates and utilization.
  • Prepares a variety of statistical and technical reports, including detailed study findings and recommendations for both processes and system improvements.
  • Attends meetings as required to coordinate work efforts and/or provides briefings.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progresses.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-12 level candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the federal service.

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.

Specialized experience includes: Experience in following up on projects/studies up until completion, which requires analysis of interrelated issues of effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of OSII and Bureau information management systems; gathering, assembling and analyzing data and drawing conclusions to complete complex research/statistical studies and reports; utilizing oral communication to participate on study teams, advise management officials, coordinate work activities and assist in conducting presentations; experience in written communications to prepare analytical reports and other written materials.
