OPPORTUNITY: The AO is seeking applicants for its Internship Program. The opportunity is intended to provide valuable work experience for students interested in a public service career. The student will have an opportunity to improve his or her writing, research, analytical, logical, multi-tasking, and customer-service skills.

The Facilities and Security Office (FSO) welcomes students working for academic credit, as well as those seeking an internship for career-related training. The intern will support the Resource Management Division.
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assist with database management related to budget and finance aspects of real estate and court security projects for the judicial branch;
  • Assist with managing and organizing data from different sources;
  • Working with Microsoft Excel and other data management applications such as Microsoft Access;
  • Conducting research and assisting with special projects and day-to-day operations; and
  • Performing general office tasks.

  • A background security investigation is required for all selectees. Appointment will be subject to a successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements may be grounds for appropriate personnel action. A background security reinvestigation or supplemental investigation may be required at a later time.
  • All new AO employees must identify a financial institution for direct deposit of pay before appointment.

  • Qualifications

    Basic Qualification Requirements: Qualifications for the AO Internship Program positions are closely related to the criteria established for executive branch positions by the Office of Personnel Management. Internship positions are classified and paid under a broad-banded system. Salary is set commensurate with educational background and experience. Demonstrated relevant work experience will be credited.
    • Applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree-seeking student in either an undergraduate or graduate level program.
    • Applicants must have completed at least one year of undergraduate education beyond high school.
    • Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0 (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED).
    Additional Qualification Requirements: In addition to meeting the BASIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS, applicants must also:
    • Have the ability to work well in a team environment.
    • Have very strong communication and reading skills and be detailed oriented.
    • Have a working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
    • Have excellent writing, reading, and interpersonal skills, and be able to organize a variety of assignments simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.


    School Affiliation: All students in the AO Internship Program must be enrolled in an accredited school, and must be working toward a degree, diploma, certificate, etc. on a full or part-time basis.
