This position is located in Smithsonian Institution, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. The employee provides technical web development, technology management, leadership, and maintenance regarding web page and application technologies and related online facilities and IT systems.

Responsibilities

As the IT Specialist, the incumbent would be responsible for the following duties:
  • Manages the museum's digital efforts and is responsible for the development of new project ideas as well as development and maintaining new and existing web and IT projects.
  • Leads the strategic direction of how best to utilize and exploit approved IT solutions and works closely with senior leadership to realize the technical needs of digital museum offerings.
  • Manages HMSG's relationship with OCIO, central Web Services Division, IT systems administrator, and acting IT administrators; provides implementation, IT leadership, and management coordination for core museum applications and support services.
  • Executes the technical end of all digital marketing and communications efforts, including email marketing, advertising campaign tracking, and overall analytics.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position Specialized experience is defined as administering/maintaining a WordPress, Drupal or other website using an open source CMS. Strategic planning and execution of digital strategies and digital projects. providing oversight to contractors. Provide guidance and leadership on technical and digital needs for the museum.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.

In addition to meeting the Specialized Experience for all positions individuals must have related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
