The Systems Administrator will provide system administration duties for multiple servers and networks in a research environment.

  • Build, configure, and administer Unix and Windows servers
  • Assist with the design of architecture planning of an RDE network implementation
  • Build and configure CG Core Servers and client work stations
  • Monitor and maintain LAN/WAN performance and provide support for VPN tunnels, maintenance and operation of PIX firewalls, and all WAN interconnectivity issues
  • Assist with patch management and backup duties
  • Apply all necessary updates and patches to production systems
  • Build Virtual Machines to include the use of Xen and VMware
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Associate degree and 7+ years' experience in the IT field OR
  • 9+ years of experience
  • Experience with Unix and Windows operating systems
  • Experience with Google enterprise server
  • Security+, MCSE, TCP/IP certifications required
  • TS/SCI required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must have advanced working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications with word processing, spreadsheets, database (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook
  • Must have strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • Must have strong technical knowledge of telecommunications, networks, and PC operating systems

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
