Responsibilities

  • You will estimate and prepare work authorizations using commercial cost estimating guides.
  • You will evaluate existing building electrical systems to determine load on power sources.
  • You will determine electrical requirements for new construction or renovation projects given a set of building plans and proposed operation specifications.
  • You will prepare scopes of work for construction, alteration, installation, maintenance or repair of facility electrical systems and/or equipment.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field Facilities Engineering Level II. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialize experience at or equivalent at the next lower grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

GS-10. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal Service performing duties such as: 1) Evaluate and assure contractor's quality control efforts adhere to contract requirements and takes necessary corrective actions (2) Review and validate contractor daily production/quality control reports and document any discrepancies (3) Coordinate pre-final and final acceptance inspections and track completion of punch list items (4) Investigate engineering problems that may arise on construction contracts such as unforeseen conditions, contractor requests for information and dimension conflicts (5) Ensure successful testing and certification of critical building systems as identified in the contract plans and specifications

GS-0802-09 : One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal Service performing duties such as: (1) Serve as primary interface for customers in the field to provide status updates and address concerns (2) Review and validate contractor's invoices in support of authorizing progress payments recommending retainage as applicable (3) Facilitate and assist in coordination of road and utility outages to support construction efforts (4) Review of government approved administrative and technical (as applicable submittals) (5) Assisting in in the review of Contractors Quality Management Plans.

Reassignments within the commuting area may be required as the workload is reduced at one site and increases at another.

Physical Demands -
The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above average agility and dexterity. Much of the time is spent walking, crouching, standing, and climbing high ladders to conduct quality assurance reviews.

Work Environment-
Work generally involves minimal risks and observance of safety precautions typical of an office setting. However, field inspections are made which may require protective clothing. Protective clothing worn in field inspections includes hard hats, reflective vest, hard-toed boots, safety glasses, and ear protection. Other protective wear such as safety harnesses, coveralls, and gloves may be required for certain situations.

A BQ military spouse possesses knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies comparable to others who meet the competitive referral criteria for the specific position.
