Summary

The Chief, Case Management Branch, reports to the Chief, Operations Division, Court Services Office (CSO), Department of Program Services (DPS). This position provides day-to-day oversight, supervision, assistance, support, and coordination of a wide variety of activities related to the development and implementation of case management systems for the federal appellate, bankruptcy, and district courts.

Responsibilities

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Serving as the subject matter expert and providing leadership for court and AO staff regarding the status and operation of current Case Management/Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF) and Next Generation of CM/ECF (NextGen) systems and releases.
  • Overseeing the Case Management Branch's role to serve as Agile software development product owners for NextGen.
  • Facilitating the development of temporary duty (TDY) employees and new branch personnel to assume product owner responsibilities.
  • Overseeing the NextGen Implementation Manager, implementation staff, and national implementation effort.
  • Serving on or leading the efforts of various committees, meetings, and working groups and preparing and presenting, orally and in writing, briefings and documents.
  • Establishing priorities, identifying solutions, developing short- and long-term program and project milestones and timelines, and ensuring deadlines are met.

  • All new AO employees will be required to complete a FBI fingerprint-based national criminal database and records check and pass a public trust suitability check.
  • All new AO employees must identify a financial institution for direct deposit of pay before appointment.
  • You will be required to serve a trial period if selected for a first-time appointment to the Federal government, transferring from another Federal agency, or serving as a first-time supervisor. Failure to successfully complete the trial period may result in termination of employment.
  • If appointed to a temporary position, management may have the discretion of converting the position to permanent depending upon funding and staffing allocation.
  • Relocation expenses may be provided, but only if authorized by the Director of the AO.


  • Qualifications

    Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.

    Specialized Experience : Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated high-level knowledge and skills to serve as the Chief of the Case Management Branch, including having served in a leadership role related to case management system development or implementation efforts. Specialized experience also includes demonstrated diplomacy, analytical and organizational skills, and a demonstrated record of effectively collaborating across functional lines and with internal and external stakeholders.
