Learn more about this agency

The DFC depends on its Office of General Counsel (OGC) to provide any legal advice it may require as a corporation on a wide range of general corporate, legislative, and administrative matters.

For a law student interested in finance and the legal aspects of international business transactions, a DFC internship provides exposure to many facets of international finance, from structuring project financings to assessing political risks and claims in connection with the DFC's insurance contracts. An internship with DFC's OGC gives students a comprehensive overview of the operations and effectiveness of DFC programs in support of international transactions.

The OGC internship is an opportunity for practical application of legal principles in such areas as corporate law, international business transactions, banking, finance and insurance. The majority of the work performed by interns is comparable to that of a first-year associate at a law firm transactional practice and may also include legal research and writing projects. The OGC makes every effort to provide assignments that fit with an intern's areas of particular interest.
