Summary

The Digital Customer Relationship Management team seeks an enthusiastic marketing student to assist our full-time staff with daily email and SMS marketing support. Though this role encompasses a diverse set of digital marketing tasks, it will primarily focus on the candidate's experience and skillsets. We're looking for candidates that are quick, eager learners and have a background in digital marketing and/or communication.

If you are interested in email or SMS marketing, with an excellent eye for detail, strong writing, and communication skills, this could be an exciting opportunity for you. The internship will start in the summer and will have the option to continue for additional semesters.

Responsibilities

Assisting with SMS and email communications and management. Work across a variety of internal clients and external agencies to help meet their marketing objectives.
Prior interns have gained experience working with leading marketing software such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Target, Sharepoint, JIRA, Confluence, and Tableau. They gain important management skills, including project management, meeting management, budgeting, reporting, and preparing executive-level presentations. Interns support improving the customer experience by mapping journeys, monitoring listening platforms, and sharing insights. Interns may also proof emails and SMS campaigns, create and manage content on internal sites, and help with tracking and analytics.

Requirements

Prospective interns must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university; be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students; and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship.

AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program.

• Pursing a degree in marketing or a related field, digital marketing preferred
• Experience managing projects in a work or classroom setting
• Ability to work with internal stakeholders, including business unit leads, digital channel leads, and members of the Product, Development, Membership, or Analytics teams.
• Experience creating marketing plans, relevant coursework
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong communication skills, ability to proof one's own work, attention to detail
• Creative thinking and problem-solving; leveraging technology to solve business problems in a production environment
• Prior experience with email, social or mobile marketing preferred

Must excel at the tedious:

• Project management
• Note-taking
• Written communication - Status Updates
• Must be succinct - Ability to take complex ideas and express them in simple, easy to understand terms

Basic to Intermediate ability to use:
• Microsoft Office
• Adobe Photoshop a plus
