Assistant City Manager – Salary low to mid $100,000
The City of Greenbelt, a progressive and diverse community of 21,000, is looking for an Assistant City Manager after the retirement of its 25+ year Assistant City Manager. This position performs complex professional administrative work relative to the operations of the City Manager’s Office and other areas of municipal government. Assists in the preparation of the City’s annual budget. Assists the City Manager in directing and working with City departments to achieve departmental and City-wide objectives and strategic plans, fulfill Council policy initiatives, provide municipal services to the community. Represents the City Manager at meetings and in communication with the City Council, community groups, outside agencies and organizations. Signs checks and purchase orders in absence of City Manager or City Treasurer. Develops the City’s annual legislative program. Analyzes, monitors and reports on County, State and Federal legislation of interest to the City. Attends and participates in County and State legislative hearings and intergovernmental meetings and testifies on legislation. Supervises Museum staff and administrative staff. Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Political Science or a related field and five to seven years of progressively responsible experience. ICMA Credentialed Manager desirable.
