Job Summary:
Westat is hiring a qualified individual to join multidisciplinary research teams to help support technical assistance projects focused on special education data quality, data-related materials development and dissemination, and multi-media communication.

Job Responsibilities:
•    Format Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other documents, reports, memos, and miscellaneous materials.
•    Prepare files for converting and convert files to 508-compliant files (e.g., pdf, PPT).
•    Copy edit documents and external communications using project-specific style.
•    Proof project work and client deliverables to meet project quality assurance standards.
•    Support responsibilities for small and large-scale in-person and virtual meetings and conference calls. 
•    Support multi-task small and large-scale document production and dissemination.
•    Access information (from multiple sources including online) and synthesize for reports.
•    Develop and manage timelines and follow through on action items.

Basic Qualifications:
•    A bachelor's degree in English, communication, education, or a related field and at least 5 years of experience providing support for small and large projects is required.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and 508 compliance applications.  

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Proficiency with JAWS (screen reader software) and CommonLook (a plugin to Adobe Acrobat for processing).
•    Previous experience working with general education, special education, or other related projects at the federal or state level.
•    Previous experience supporting various cross-department document production and dissemination activities. 
•    Certification in creating 508-compliant documents, reports, etc. 

The successful candidate must have demonstrated excellent attention to detail; be comfortable and effective working on multiple, complex tasks in close coordination with others and under direction from multiple sources; be willing to undertake multi-step assignments and show initiative and creativity in offering ways to complete assignments; and demonstrate effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
