The IIF is the global association of the financial industry. Its mission is to support its members in the prudent management of risks; to develop sound industry practices; and to advocate for regulatory, financial, and economic policies that are in the broad interests of its members and foster global financial stability and sustainable economic growth. IIF member firms span the globe and the financial industry, comprising commercial and investment banks, asset managers, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, hedge funds, central banks, development banks, and other types of businesses involved in the financial industry from nearly 70 countries.
The Institute is seeking a highly motivated Associate Economist to support the work of our Economic Research department. S/he will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:
- Manage the production and dissemination of IIF Economic Research by drafting and coordinating the periodic survey on bank lending conditions and emerging markets, Risk Heat Map, economic analysis on designated region or country and contributing to the Weekly Insight Report.
- Support the production of GMA’s global economic forecast by monitoring macroeconomic and financial developments in the G3 economies; providing qualitative and quantitative input to enhance the forecasts for the World Economic Framework; and developing new systems that enhance productivity and improve reports.
- Develop a new database as well as maintain it.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
Applicants should have a college degree in economics, finance or other related quantitative field, but more competitive candidates would have a master’s degree; at least five years related work experience, including experience economic forecasts, writing research reports; strong command of the English language as well as excellent communication skills (oral and written); and advance experience with Microsoft Excel. Desirable: Experience with Bloomberg, Haver and/or demonstrated experience in carrying out quantitative analysis using statistical programs (EViews, MatLab, RATS, Stata).
