Healthcare Management Executive in Residence Faculty Full-Time, Term Faculty Position (Instructor, Assistant Professor Rank)

The Department of Health Administration and Policy at George Mason University is seeking applicants for a full-time, term faculty position for an individual with college level teaching experience to serve as the Executive in Residence in Healthcare Management. The Executive in Residence in Healthcare Management is a faculty role that is fulfilled by an experienced healthcare executive who has a working knowledge of the changing landscape in which healthcare organizations operate and understands the operational challenges of managing healthcare systems and diverse constituent relationships.

The appointment will begin in August 2021, though other starting times may be possible. This is a full-time (9-month) position. The rank and salary for this position will be commensurate with the candidate's overall qualifications and prior experience with academic teaching and scholarly contributions to the field or academy. About the Department: GMU's Department of Health Administration and Policy has educated students and conducted research in health systems management, health policy and health informatics since 2010. Today, graduate programs in these areas seek to prepare new leaders to apply management and evidence-based decision making to improve public health and the quality of healthcare. The distinctive approach to all HAP degree programs is rigorous, innovative, accessible and hands-on.

Responsibilities: The incumbent will: * Teach courses related to Health Systems Management across the curriculum in a variety of courses including but not limited to, Leadership and Management of Healthcare Organizations, Human Resources, Healthcare Strategic Management and Marketing, Contemporary Issues in Healthcare Organizations and others; * Support students and alumni with career coaching, including internship/fellowship guidance, networking and professional contact development, and job search strategies; provide consultation to MHA capstone practicum course students on field projects; coach MHA, MPH and other case study competition teams/students; * Oversee health executive recruitment and participation on healthcare management curriculum advisory boards; * Serve as a member of the MHA, BS HADM and other program faculty to maintain curriculum currency, participate in program evaluation, support student academic and professional advising (students and alumni) and program accreditation management; * Participate in student and faculty recruitment and academic program enrichment activities; * Serve on department and college level faculty committees and working groups.

Required Qualifications: The successful applicant will have (1) earned a graduate degree (MHA, MSHA, MS, MBA) in a field or discipline related to health systems management, (2) working experience as a healthcare executive, (3) graduate teaching experience, including online or hybrid teaching, and (4) strong interpersonal communication and project management skills.

Candidates wishing to be considered for appointment at the rank of associate or full professor must have an earned Doctoral degree in a field related to healthcare management, university teaching experience and a demonstrated track record of scholarly publications.

Preferred Qualifications: * Prior experience with online teaching and/or mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in healthcare management is preferred; * In addition to specialty certification(s) in a practice area related to healthcare management, highly qualified candidates will have a working knowledge of CAHME accreditation for the healthcare management graduate program; * Additional qualifications such as certification as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and other relevant specialized certifications are preferred.

Because the HAP department's faculty members include scholars from multiple academic and professional disciplines, we are especially interested in applicants with a background and commitment to interdisciplinary, collaborative research.
