Manager, General Accounting
The International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (IUBAC) is seeking a
Manager of General Accounting in its downtown DC headquarters.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as technical accounting expert to BAC and related funds
- Back-up to Director of Accounting Services in their absence, including daily cash management duties
- Ensure accuracy of overall accounting and monthly financial statements for BAC, IPF, IPF-Can, IPF RSP/401K, IHF, IHF-Can, SEPF, LOEPF, LOEPF-Can and other smaller entities
- Review monthly work product of accounting staff (journal entries/trial balances/bank recons/cash receipts/balance sheet account recons)
- Work with investment custodian and independent fiduciary on accounting for and financial statement presentation of investments
- Prepare annual filings with the PBGC and initiate payments
- Review quarterly and year end reconciliations of payroll Forms 941/945/W2
- Serve as liaison with external auditors during annual audits
- Coordinate preparation of bank and investment confirmations for all entities
- Review or prepare various reconciliations, allocations and schedules including the BAC functional cost matrix
- Ensure that all adjusting journal entries are correctly reflected in the accounting records
- Provide information for and review IRS/DOL Form 5500 and Form 990 filings prepared by external auditors
- Serve as liaison with Revenue Department (CCU) for cash receipt and revenue accounting functions
- Make on-line bank transfers as per daily RAS transfer requirements
- Analyze bank deposit and RAS entry data to ensure all deposits accounted for and all accounting entries correspond to bank deposits
- Preparation of monthly journal entries to record revenue processed through RAS on various sets of books
- Support preparation of the annual DOL LM-2 report
- Back up accounts payable manager as required
- Other duties as assigned
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
- BS Degree in Accounting and CPA required.
- Minimum of five years of general ledger and supervisory experience required.
- Ability to apply GAAP in a variety of situations, in-depth knowledge of automated accounting applications and relational databases, XML and MS Office, especially Excel.
