The Bureau of Labor Statistics measures labor market activity, working conditions, price changes, and productivity in the U.S. economy to support public and private decision making.

This position is located in the Office of Administration, Division of Administrative Services, Branch of Space Management (BSM).

This position is inside the Bargaining Unit.

Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Participating with senior staff on projects dealing with major space and facility management renovations, alterations, and studies; recommending and drafts plans for utilization of space and facilities for organizations consistent with requirements of organizational efficiency and available facilities and funds.
  • Assisting the Branch Chief/senior staff in developing, analyzing, and implementing space plans that meet long and short-term organizational operations and needs, staffing levels, workflow, working group adjacency needs, and interrelationships to ensure the development of the most efficient office environment.
  • Computing square footage available for each member of staff to determine whether minimum space requirements can be met, and prepares office layouts; preparing non-complex specifications, construction plans, and budget estimates for Senior Space Planner to review.
  • Participating in the drafting of project plans, schedules, and space planning projects; responding to inquiries, arranges meetings and materials for discussion, and coordinating the efforts of numerous parties, both inside and outside of the organization and agency.

    Qualifications

    For GS-11: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-9, in the Federal Service.

    Specialized work experience is defined as experience that involves: Knowledge and understanding of the basic theories, principles, practices and techniques of office space management and design in order to develop cost effective space plans, layouts and interior designs. Proficiency in Automated Computer Assisted Design (AutoCAD) is required. Resume must clearly state experiences.

    Education Substitution

    GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.

    OR

    Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
